Regional Triangle of Weimar - an INTERREG
IIIC project
The State of North Rhine-Westphalia, the voivodeship, or province,
of Silesia (Poland) and the French region of Nord-Pas de Calais
have intensified their co-operation in a now larger Europe.
Under the leadership of the State Chancellery of North Rhine-Westphalia,
they succeeded in placing the Regional Triangle of Weimar project
in the INTERREG IIIC programme which ran until the spring of 2007.
The project, which began with three regional conferences and three
thematic conferences in March 2004, was a so-called "Regional
Framework Operation (RFO)".
Already in the application phase, ZENIT supported the regional
partners and was also commissioned with the task of project management
as RFO secretariat. In addition, ZENIT was the central contact point
for all the project partners from North Rhine-Westphalia and co-ordinated
the regional activities in the framework of the project. Core topics
were "Industrial Restructuring", "Social Policy"
and "Modern Administration".
In the two calls for proposals in 2004 and 2005, a total of 29
applications were submitted, of which 15 projects were approved
by the Project Management Committee. The projects, which were always
trilateral, came from the areas listed above. "Industrial Restructuring"
projects focused on the regeneration of derelict industrial sites,
the development of small and medium-sized enterprises and the support
of innovation and technology. "Social Policy" projects
centred on the employability of young persons, the long-term employed,
the disabled and senior citizens whilst "Modern Administration"
projects were concerned with the training of public sector employees
at municipal and regional level and municipal eGovernment.
Detailed information about the project can be found on the project
